An International Tri-Conference:

ICODeL 2023, ISEAC 2023 and ASEANale 2023

Our world today is becoming increasingly interconnected. However, we are also facing a range of complex and interrelated challenges that require from multidisciplinary to pluridisciplinary solutions. Among the most pressing issues we face today are sustainable education, one health, and threats in digital landscapes.

The recent global health crisis has shown the important role that open, and distance e-learning (ODeL) plays in ensuring learning continuity as well as promoting wider access to education. Even as more universities and schools adopt ODeL to enhance their academic programs, they also need to pay attention to other disruptions caused by changing workforce requirements, new and emerging technologies, and shifting learner profiles. The educational system is also called upon to contribute to preparing citizens who can navigate a future threatened by interconnected problems of environmental degradation, economic inequalities, and social exclusion. More than ever, there is a need for the educational sector to discuss and reflect on how flexible ways of teaching and learning can contribute to addressing these intersecting sustainability issues and hopefully come up with innovative ideas to seize the opportunities and address the challenges that lay ahead.

The Tri-Conference brings together the International Conference on Open and Distance eLearning (icodel.org); the International Symposium on Education and AI Convergence (iseac.upou.edu.ph); and the ASEANnale 2023 (aseannale.upou.edu.ph).

The events will be held in a hybrid format, maximizing the affordances of different modes of delivery. Plenary and paper presentations will be delivered online, while unconference sessions will be conducted face-to-face at the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) Headquarters in Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines, for the ICODeL and at the SEARCA for the ASEANnale. Unconference sessions will include workshops, collaborative activities, festivals, hackathons, and other alternative ways of sharing and co-creating knowledge. Unconference sessions will have limited slots.

The theme Sustainability in Education: Intersections, Ideation, Innovations serves as an anchor for the ICODeL, ASEANnale, and ISEAC.
