In the knowledge economy, there is an acceleration of knowledge generation leading to fluid and ever-shifting futures. As teachers and teacher-educators, we consciously teach for the possible requirements of a future which we cannot foresee. This paper is an exploration of a framework for teacher mentoring for teaching in 21st century classrooms, following the TPACK model (Mishra and Koehler, 2006) for development of teacher knowledge through active involvement in communities of practice. It puts forward the metaphor of the bee in a garden to illustrate the roles of the student, the teacher, and the education community.
