Production of 21st Century K-12 tools: Challenges and Phases

Vibal Publishing is a key partner of the basic education sector in the Philippines. Recently, the company has pushed the boundaries for a more enriching, technology-aided education that is both responsive to the demands of the times and reflective of the sensibilities of the modern learner. With a pool of educational technology staff, the publishing firm has embarked on innovative approaches to 21st century teaching and learning. Initially, it complemented its textbooks with interactive CD-ROMs that contain multimedia modules and drills. Then its textbooks were provided with online book support. In 2011, it introduced electronic textbooks in the country with the release of the enhanced digital edition of its textbooks. This presentation gives an overview of the phases of Vibal Publishing’s efforts to help redefine 21st century education in the Philippines.
