Going In-World: Exploring Multi-User Virtual Environments for Online Teaching

New tools and applications are continually being developed that can serve as alternatives to learning management systems in the delivery of online courses. One such possibility is Multi-User Virtual Environments (MUVEs). This paper will give a brief introduction to virtual worlds, particularly Second Life (SL), describe their uses in education, and discuss issues and concerns in using them for educational purposes.
